The 6th 22ATCE Annual Energy Startup Competition announced its winners, and Vidya is one of them!
Launched in 2017, the Energy Startup Competition showcases emerging energy technology companies worldwide. The competition is the result of a partnership by SPE (Society of Petroleum Engineers), the largest individual-member organization serving managers, engineers, scientists, and other professionals worldwide in the upstream segment of the Oil and Gas industry, with the Startup Village and Rice Alliance for Technology and Entrepreneurship, a nationally-recognized initiative devoted to the support of technology commercialization, entrepreneurship education, and the launch of technology companies.
From 40 companies who submitted their solutions for the organization, only 10 were selected for this year’s competition, and Vidya was honored to be one of them! – Otavio Correa (CEO of Vidya Technology)
The goal of the competition is to provide visibility among leaders in the industry, giving the opportunity for cash prizes, networking, and mentoring of the companies with leading energy investors. The 10 selected companies were:

The virtual competition took place between the 20-21 September 2022. On Tuesday, entrepreneurs were given 7 minutes to explain what their company does and their technology solutions to a panel of industry technology leaders. Then, a panel of five judges spent 7 minutes asking the competitors questions about their pitch.
Afterward, on Wednesday there will be a Meet the Experts session with the Awards Ceremony, where 4 of the 10 companies will be selected for the top three prizes by the judges, and the fourth one selected by the audience – the People’s Choice. In this session, anyone interested in startups can gain insights from investors, industry representatives, and veteran entrepreneurs about building a new business.
People’s Choice and Rising Star: 2 prizes won by Vidya Technology
Vidya won both People’s Choice and Rising Star during the competition. This means that the company was chosen by both the public and the judges as a promising Digital Transformation company for the awards. We were thankful for this opportunity to showcase our company, receive mentorship, and network with the Society of Petroleum Engineers and Rice Alliance for Technology and Entrepreneurship professionals.
The Annual Technical Conference & Exhibition of SPE
In addition, all of the competitors will receive the opportunity to attend ATCE, the Annual Technical Conference & Exhibition of SPE, which will take place between 3-5 October in Houston. This conference happens since 1924 and is the highest caliber technical event for E&P professionals around the globe.
Some of the events planned during ATCE will be:
- Multiple technical section meetings
- Events designed for young professionals, students, and experienced leaders in the making
- Showcase of emerging energy companies
- Annual banquet to recognize outstanding SPE members
- Pre and post-conference training courses to help enhance your expertise
- 90,000 sq. ft. of exhibition space featuring the latest technologies and services in the industry
During this conference, the Top Four companies selected from the Energy Startup Competition will receive their respective awards in the in-person Award Ceremony with the SPE President, Med Kamal, at the SPE Pavilion in the Exhibition Hall.
